A bipartisan group of senators (both very conservative and liberal) have come up with a plan to help legitimize many of the 12 million undocumented workers, increasing border security, and establishing a worker program. It's expected to fly through the senate, but will have a harder time passing through the house, where Republicans are expected to fight for harsher penalties. Still, good news!
Step in the right direction, though I'm not a big fan of sending everyone back first to get a visa stamp...or the $5,000 fine.
ReplyDeleteYeah but people pay Coyotes $5,000 to bring them across the border with no guarantee that they'll even make it here alive! I think it's still a small price to pay, besides, someone has to pay for the crazy administrative costs it's going to take to process them (and it shouldn't be the American people).
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they have to go back and "touch their toe to the Rio Grande" as Dick Durbin put it, but it's still a HUGE step in the right direction.
BTW: Aimee was pretending to talk to you on the phone today. Muy Cute.
Awwwww!!!!!!!!! I miss her when I'm not around.
