Immigration FYI

A bipartisan group of senators (both very conservative and liberal) have come up with a plan to help legitimize many of the 12 million undocumented workers, increasing border security, and establishing a worker program. It's expected to fly through the senate, but will have a harder time passing through the house, where Republicans are expected to fight for harsher penalties. Still, good news!

Step in the right direction, though I'm not a big fan of sending everyone back first to get a visa stamp...or the $5,000 fine.

Yeah but people pay Coyotes $5,000 to bring them across the border with no guarantee that they'll even make it here alive! I think it's still a small price to pay, besides, someone has to pay for the crazy administrative costs it's going to take to process them (and it shouldn't be the American people).

I don't understand why they have to go back and "touch their toe to the Rio Grande" as Dick Durbin put it, but it's still a HUGE step in the right direction.

BTW: Aimee was pretending to talk to you on the phone today. Muy Cute.
